Lily has recently taken quite an interest in the lamp Nanna made for her. She especially enjoys taking the tiny blocks that were glued down and carrying them around the house. Nanna and Poppy's Visit

We had a great time visiting with Nanna and Poppy this past week. Lily made strange with them when they first arrived, but by the afternoon of the following day she was allowing both of them to hold her. Poppy taught her a new game called "Round, round Lily baby" that she laughed at each time he played with her. Lily especially liked the necklaces that Nanna and Poppy wear and spent a lot of time grabbing and pulling on them.

The weather was lovely the last few days Nanna and Poppy were here so we got to spend quite a bit of time outside going for walks, playing and creating steps off our deck as well as staining our front porch. We are Extremely grateful for all the help!

Nanna got to feed Lily most of her meals while she was here and see Lily eat grapes, melon and spaghetti noodles for the first time!

We had a little birthday celebration for Nanna on her birthday and for once she did not have to share the celebration day with Gizmo!

It was so wonderful to see you both and we are grateful you made the trip down to see us! We look forward to seeing you guys again soon.

We got an earlier appointment than expected for Gizmo and are so glad we did! He looks like himself again and was definitely happier when he came home from the groomer. He can actually see again and smells so wonderful! It almost looks like we came home with a different dog, but we know it's him.
It was great to see everyone for Thanksgiving. Thanks for putting up with our scruffy dog.

The Vineyard

Kate, Lily, and I spent the afternoon remembering our wedding 2 years ago. A lot more grapes and lots of tiki torches seemed to be the latest at Valhalla Vineyard. We also took the opportunity to sample some Maggie Moo's ice cream in honor of our wedding ice cream peanut butter cake, which still lingers in our memories. Finally, out for dinner in Roanoke (after dessert), and Lily seemed to have a good time even though she was probably sick of the car seat by now. Thanks again for everyone who came from New York for that special weekend. We definitely have good memories (although the memory of picking up Chris & Jane at the airport around 2ish in the morning is a bit hazy). Hope all are well.

It only took about 1.5 years, but we think we picked a good one.

Now we get to see what life is like with 2 vehicles, or at least until the Elantra really does explode.
Kate and I took turns driving it back from the dealer and it's great so far.
We still don't know what Gizmo will think of all the extra room in the back, so we'll see.

Turning the Big 03

Today was Gizmo's last birthday as an only child. As the three amigos slowly grows into 4, Gizmo reports that he is looking forward to 2 things: (1)eating whatever the baby drops on the floor and (2) licking the baby's face. To celebrate his monumental achievement to becoming 3 years old, we are planning on relocating his cage so he stops stinking up the baby's room.

The one at the top looks like he/she is looking up into the sky on the right side of the picture. Like Kate said, she's feeling well and this Friday will be her last day at work. As for me, Kate counted 22 gray hairs on my noggin' the other day. I'm on my way to being distinguished.

Pictured here is our view of the Baby from today's doctor visit. The head is on the left side below the "MOM N" that the doctor insisted he put on the picture since he puts it on all the pictures he takes.

Little nubs are present as growing arms and legs towards the right of the Baby. Doctor said things are looking well so far with our Baby's heart at about 170, which is good. It became Real for us as we saw the tiny pumping heart and we both knew that Kate really had something growing inside her.

Looks like July 1st, 2008 is the day when Kate, Gizmo, and I will be a growing family.

Great news! On Friday, Oct. 19th my physical therapist found a pressure point and now I can turn my head for the first time since I think June without pain. Things going slow with my back, but did I mention I'm now doing pt in a pool.

TO BE READ BEGINNING WITH THE SAFARI ENTRIES!

After pursuing the sound emitting from the passenger-front wheel, we found it was time to replace some brakes. Difficult to do amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains, we descended upon Roanoke and spent a few hours getting some brakes. (Sorry Dad, you'll have to visit again and we can go through the replacement of brakes again, because I forgot how to go about it.)

With ease of mind, we ascended to the land of wine and grapes at Valhalla. A year later, Kate and Jason appeared to be the only major change to have taken place.
With a year to look back on, and 35 of them for Mom and Dad to look back upon, we're excited to experience what is in store for our future. God knows what our lives will be like this time next year as we make the trek back up the mountain.

Anniversary weekend Spectaculaar

After the safari, we didn't even get out of the car and continued onto the Blue Ridge Mountains.

With a bunch of places to pull off, there were many chances to see this beautiful place that's just a few hours away, and that we've passed on so many trips.

Somewhat troubling, there was a sound emitting from the front passenger-side area near the wheel of the Elantra. Choosing to push-on, we continued to to explore.

Then it was onto the Bed 'n Breakfast that looked like something out of a 1980s summer-camp-horror-movie.

The place was pretty old and it shows as everything inside looks like it was made for little people. People were little back then.

The interior and breakfast (pictured) were pleasant though. Served with a delightful apple butter, the biscuits proved to be pretty tasty. The chunk of meat was good Virginia ham.

Our room was upstairs and also wasn't as creepy as the exterior made it out to be. It had a tub, but no shower so for our anniversary we were the smelly people upstairs. Also there was no lock on this door I'm holding, so we felt slightly more comfortable stacking a space heater, a stool, and numerous other trip hazards for whoever made the mistake of trying to take our stuff in the middle of the night.

Anniversary weekend

Here are some pictures of our Safari car-ride during our anniversary weekend. As you can see, as much as we tried to avoid the zebra, he was all about our steering wheel. Litigation is underway. No major damage was done to our vehicle. But we did notice a squeaking sound coming from near the front wheel. Strange...

Kate made a friend with a llama or an alpaca or something. It appreciated the food pellets we supplied. As you can see, there is a jealous llama/alpaca/water buffalo/dirt magnet in the distance.

My friend was very quiet and soft. I think I called him Roderick.

We are officially moved into the new house. We slept at 190 Sage Lane for the first time last night and things are starting to come together. We had lots of help from people from Church and the move went by very quickly and smoothly. We wanted to share some pictures with everyone about how the house is coming together so far. Yahoo! Last day of classes. Regents on Thursday... proctoring for a week. I'm going to miss the brats. Looking forward to new adventures. My trip to Maine was enjoyable but long drive. Glad I went, got lots of exposure. Hopefully I will be invited to return as an instructor in 2008.

House For Sale

It's official that the house we're renting is on the market now. Unfortunately, we spent this past weekend getting phone calls about it and sitting in our neighbor's driveway spying on the prospective buyers.

We're going through the process of figuring out if this is where God wants us right now. Also, we spend time looking at walls and figuring out what changes we would make to the place to make it something people would buy years from now.

We shall see what the next few days bring and also hope that Chris and Jane are steered in the direction in which they are also meant to be.

Oh yeah, I graduate in a month. We aren't going anywhere and the invite is still open for anyone to come here (5/11-5/13). We may own a house, we may not, but at least we can hang out.

Finally, photos from Branson

Kate and I visited Branson, Missouri (home to the Yakov Smirnoff theater) with Jack and Kathy during the week of March 3-10th. It was a good time as we saw plenty of live entertainment of music, magic, and plenty of horses and other animals in the Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede.

Hidden in the Ozark Mountains, Branson is famous for being full of shows and entertainment and we were about 4 minutes drive from it all. We took some boring video, but we won't force that on anybody, so enjoy the pictures.

Next up will be updates on our housing situation and graduation party. Hope all is well with everyone.

Stapler Experiment

Seems my little man was trying out a stapler and it stopped working so he gave it to the Daddyo. He later brought over a handful of staples. Then later brought the Daddyo undies stapled closed with seven staples.
So do you think there is a message there...when a little boy learning to use the potty...staples his undies closed?

Jane was right - the candy does get handled alot and some even melted.
So for anyone interested in a Mancala sugar rush....skittles melt to make sticky little hands....Wonka bottle caps (which rock!) and smarties work well.

Hello. I know my children have wonderful loving grandparents and these grandparents have been busy on the phone. So I do want to share the latest...
Oliver is doing well. His meds for strep throat seem to have treated him well. Aside from a cough and periodic runny nose (and who doesn't have that this time of year) he is the wild ball of Oliver energy we love and can't keep up with.
Cameron is doing better each day since Monday night. Her meds for strep throat (which she ended up not having) were not as helpful. One week later she is in the hospital with a belly full of air and terribly dehydrated. Today she asked for her brother to visit and she got the okay to try clear fluids....and jello has unleashed the hunger....Daddyo just called and Cameron asked for a sandwich and chips. So she's hungry! Hopefully she and I can inhale a bag of chips in our comfy pants at home soon....in the meantime we're thankful for each day that she feels a little bit better.

Cameron's birthday...Nana and Poppy came for a sleepover!

We enjoyed Cameron's party this weekend. Fun with games - balloon treasure hunt and hot potatoe with Hannah Montana. There were some great swings for the fish pinata. (Note: Pixy Stix in a pinata....not wise...they make a cloud of sugar)

They picked the smallest room in the house to play in...the clubhouse (and Oliver is in there too)

Lots of happy screams and sliding down the stairs (which I still think is a little more uncomfortable than enjoyable).

Now we are excited about Thanksgiving! Safe travels to everyone!

Thanksgiving & Things

Kate and I finally (sort of) figured out what's going for Thanksgiving. Because we're bringing the Gizmo up and Kate's allergies seem to prevent her from breathing at times, we'll only be able to stay at Kate and Noah's on Thanksgiving Thursday. We're thinking of driving to Mom and Dad's on Wednesday morning and getting there Wednesday afternoon. Then going up with them on Thursday to Kate and Noah's (leaving dog in Carmel), and coming back with Mom and Dad Thursday night. We'll be leaving on Saturday morning.

Plans are already underway for Christmas. See everyone soon.

Also, as of Friday morning there are some pictures posted of some wedding back in September when a bunch of people got in their cars or on planes and somehow found themselves in Virginia of all places. Super-secret confidentail details have been e-mailed. If not, let us know.

Now, they offer 0% fairly often, but the wrangler is always excluded. Since they are so impractical, you either want one or you don't. With the new ugly 2007s coming out, they needed to make room.

I check the website and it seems the sale is only on until the 31st. Well, for the next two days it was all I could think about. I had come so close to getting one in August when they were doing the employee pricing, but decided I couldn't afford the downpayment I would need to keep the monthly payments down to something I could manage. For the next two days I stewed over my budget and checked all of the local dealer inventories online.

Finally, on halloween night, I bought a Midnight Blue 2006 Wrangler. Jane has my car, which I still need to clean out, and we are looking to either sell or donate the Honda. If we donate we can write off $5,000 (the blue book value), but what % of that would we get back in taxes (Mom?)? The car runs fine but looks like crap, so it won't be easy to sell.

Anyway, I'm pumped. I hope we have a few more warm days coming up :) .

It's probably not a secret that Meyer members either save all sorts of odd things for future projects or sentimental value OR feel the need to have two of things.
I believe I am victim of both Meyer habits. But I have learned something not to save, even though it is against my being....school projects made with any food items. A Cameron original Halloween decoration paper plate spider was found packed adjacent to a bean wreathe. The beans and paper plate spider fell victim to rodent appetite. Lesson learned. (But don't get me wrong....the Meyer in me has that wounded paper plate spider hanging right next to the recently made Oliver original paper plate spider....an example of saving odd things AND the need to have two.)

I have learned today that a contract stating that a closing will be on or before October 15, 2006, does not mean the closing will be on or before October 15th.
Go figure.
Hmm...I'm thinking "contract" is the stupidest word to use for that packet of papers.
I guess we have no idea when to expect the closing for the white house.

It was a pretty quick weekend, but we were able to get a lot done. It was a great time and the trip wasn't too bad. We kept each other sane and awake (except Gizmo), so that's a plus.
